अब यह बताने की जरूरत नहीं कि बलात्कार फिर हत्या जैसे अपराधों का सैलाब यकायक क्यों फूट पड़ा। जवाब है वर्जनाएं टूट गईं सबकुछ खुल्लमखुल्ला हो गया। पहले कैसेट्स में ब्लू फिल्में आईं,फिर ये कम्प्यूटर में घुसीं और अब इनकी जगह जेब के मोबाइल फोन में बन गई। बीबीसी की एक रिपोर्ट बताती है कि कुल नेट सामग्री में तीस फीसद पोर्न सामग्री। है। दो साल पहले मैक्स हास्पिटल ने स्कूली छात्रों के बीच सर्वे के बाद पाया कि 47 फीसद छात्र रोजाना पोर्न की बात करते हैं। नेट के सामान्य उपयोगकर्ता को प्रतिदिन कई बार पोर्न सामग्री से वास्ता पड़ता है। वजह प्रायः नब्बे फीसद समाचार व अन्य जानकारियों की साइट पोर्नसाईटस से लिंक रहती हैं या बीच में विज्ञापन घुसे रहते हैं। कई प्रतिष्ठित अखबारों पर यह आरोप लग चुका है कि वे यूजर्स, लाईक,हिट्स बढ़ाने के लिए पोर्न सामग्री का इस्तेमाल करते हैं। क्योंकि यूजर्स की संख्या के आधार पर ही विज्ञापन मिलते हैं। यानी कि वर्जनाओं को वैसे ही फूटने का मौका मिला जैसे कि बाढ़ में बाँध फूटते हैं। सारी नैतिकता इसके सैलाब में बह गई।
